Last year, Jill was part of the first Canadian show jumping team to win an Olympic medal in 40 years. She was part of the silver medal winning team at the Beijing Olympic Games, for which the equestrian events were held in Hong Kong. It was her first Olympic Games and she became the first woman ever to stand on an Olympic medal podium for Canada, in show jumping. 

In 2007, she won the individual gold medal and a team silver medal at the Pan American Games, becoming the first woman in 24 years to win the individual Pan American Games gold medal. She was also only the fourth woman in history to do so.

2008 was a great year, overall, for Jill. In addition to her Olympic medal, she won the Grand Prix of Madrid, during a brief European tour by Canada's Olympic team front-runners. Later in the year, she won the $100,000 United States Grand Prix League Final for the second year in a row.

Since May, of this year, she has been in a second-place rut, logging seven second places.

Having trained under Canadian show jumping legend, Ian Millar, for many years, Jill has been competing at the grand prix level since 1989 and made her Canadian Equestrian Team debut in 1991. She now has her own highly-successful training and horse sales business. 

Jill studied Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and is a certified Level 3 show jumping coach. She says that if she had not made a career with horses, she would have ended up teaching something. She loves to teach and her first foray into coaching came at an early age. She gave lessons to mentally-challenged children on her own pony. Jill started riding at a children's riding camp in Ottawa at age 5 and began competing at age 10. She was also a downhill skier, as a child, but decided to pursue show jumping competitively.

In addition to Olympics and Pan American Games, Jill had represented Canada in two World Championships and five World Cup Finals. She has also earned one Canadian Championship title.
