Amy Millar

Birthdate: February 14, 1977
Hometown: Perth, Ontario
Birthplace: Ottawa, Ontario

Amy Millar's 2009 season was highlighted by a short European tour in September, during which she competed in Chantilly, France and Barcelona, Spain. She was a member of the Canadian team that placed second in the nations cup in Barcelona. Her brother, Jonathon, was one of her team-mates. Earlier in the season, she kicked off the Canadian summer tour with a win in a major grand prix at the Caledon Equestrian Park, north of Toronto.

She is the daughter of Canada's most frequent Olympian and most decorated equestrian, Ian Millar. She has twice finished the year on top of the national Jump Canada series, in which points are accumulated in sanctioned competitions from coast-to-coast. The second time she did so, she led by a narrow margin over her father.

The three Millars, dubbed "Team Millar", all ride and train together at Millar Brooke Farm. Their family feats have made sports history on several occasions. In 2001, Amy, Jonathon and their father, found themselves the only three members of a first-place tie-breaker in a $100,000 grand prix in Ocala, Florida. Jonathon won, followed by his father, followed by Amy. A year earlier, in 2000, the three Millars were all members of the Canadian team in the nations cup at the prestigious Spruce Meadows Masters tournament in Calgary. Jill Henselwood, who had begun her grand prix riding career training at Millar Brooke Farm, was the fourth member of the team — making it an all Millar Brooke team.
